Only blurred previews/preload images instead of photos

What's the matter with photos that were not loaded. Instead there is a very blurred preview shown? Somebody from Mastodon told me, this might be a sync problem. Is it? I also see this from some RSS feeds.

These images are most likely marked as 'sensitive' on remote systems like Mastodon. Friendica is showing them blurred. This is the same behavior as on the remote system the post is coming from. I think there is a user setting to disable this behavior.

@Steffen K9 🍮 Thanks. Photos of trains from a hobby railroad club are sensitive? Strangely on their server bahn.social there were no photos at all.

Can you share links to affected posts? Without that it is hard to investigate.

@Wilhelm https://bahn.social/@dfs/111829127433927070 I see this pic if I go directly to the post source. On Friendica, there is only this blurred thing. After following them, I also see their profile timeline with photos. Without follwing, there were no photos at all. Mastdon's federation is shit!

I am unable to reproduce on This is Friendica, version 2024.03-rc that is running at the web location https://pirati.ca. The database version is 1558/1558, the post update version is 1550/1550.

When I search for https://bahn.social/@dfs/111829127433927070 I see:

And your own post citing the post in question also displays fine:

In all cases the post shows with a single image and no blur.

This suggests what you are seeing is a local issue and either fixed after updating to latest dev or the soon to be released 2024.03 stable or some settings / add-on need to be adjusted. As Michael pointed out, blurred images can also indicated issues loading the pictures. Reasons for that can be various, making debugging difficult.

If the pictures aren't sensitive, then this indicates that your system can't load these pictures on time and instead displays a placeholder.

It is most likely some local problem with your system. But I'm not sure which one.

I have searched for the Masto post on my system. The weird thing is the original post has one image, the imported post on Friendica seems to have two images. One is blurred and the other one looks as expected. Hmm...

@Steffen K9 🍮 @Michael Vogel @VegOS BTW: bahn.social is now offline: "Cannot connect" or timeouts. This is a connection issue on the remote site not here. They are probably working on it? I got this same blurred images when I view older posts with long-gone instances.
