NoScript: Browser-Erweiterung für Chrome erschienen #Browser #Chrome #Firefox #NoScript #WebExtensions

NoScript extension officially released for Google Chrome

NoScript's availability for Google Chrome will make many people happy. The extension has a mythical status among privacy-minded users, who have dogged Maone for a Chrome version for years.

The original Firefox add-on was launched on May 13, 2005, to rave reviews. At the time, it was introducing a novel concept that a browser add-on could intercept and block the loading or execution of dangerous or unwanted JavaScript code.

The extension gathered a huge following across the years, and because of its unique features, it has also been selected as one of the very few add-ons that come built into default installations of the Tor Browser.

Maybe there's #NoScript but the browser itself is #malware and a lot worse (spying more) than most scripts

I was a user who didn't know much about JS. I also didn't know that it was constantly crashing my browser, or even my whole OS. Then I discovered #NoScript. The frustration involved in selectively approving JS when I really need a site to work, is *much* less than the frustration of constantly losing work to crashes, and my PC running like a lame snail whenever I had a browser open. As a bonus my privacy is protected from spying by FB, goOgle etc when it relies on third-party JS.

I'm so sick of websites websites refusing to even display text and images if I don't agree to run their proprietary Javascript on my computer. Isn't it time that browsers started treating requests to run Javascript like requests to use the mic or camera, and asked the user before allowing them? Ideally with crowdsourced info about what the scripts are, and what they do? In other words, make something like #NoScript a standard part of browsers.

Had a fun moment today: I sent an email recently to Arduino tech support about their website being a mess without javascript, they said they notified the devs and asked me to rate their efforts. Naturally, they gave me a link to Zendesk which also requires javascript:)

In other news, I'm really enjoying the influx of G+ refugees, lotta technically minded folks.
